Rebuilding Shattered Lives

Negligence shatters lives and an injury can happen to anyone at any time.

Rebuilding Shattered Lives is a campaign by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) to maintain the rights of injured people in claiming the compensation they need. The campaign puts injured people first and tells real stories about real people.

Those suffering injury due to the negligence of others are often made to feel ashamed about seeking help to put their shattered lives back on track, that by seeking redress they are doing something wrong or deceitful. These damaging perceptions have adversely affected public sympathy for needlessly injured people.

The Government’s misguided interventions have focussed on the need to reduce fraud and lower insurance premiums for consumers, instead of on the needs of injured people. The reality is that a very small amount of people who have been injured make a claim for compensation and consumers rarely benefit from reduced insurance premiums.

Rebuilding Lives is a campaign against this unfair situation and aims to turn the tables in favour of injured people. It provides injured people with a voice to tell the story of their journey towards recovery with the support of a dedicated personal injury lawyer. APIL believe injured people deserve empathy and access to expert help in their time of need. Compensation is never a ‘prize’ and the money is only a part of the recovery for a needlessly injured person.
